‘Five Tips for Teachers’ Pension Benefit Statement ‘Hygiene’
From experience, we know that many members have issues caused by issues with their TP Benefit statements.
These tips are designed to prevent common issues from occuring. Fixing issues is considerably more time-consuming and hassle than preventing them.
FIVE TOP TIPS:
1) Register with MPO (My Pension Online) on TP website using a PERSONAL email address. Avoid registering with a school email address as you will lose access to your school email if you leave your current school. It can be very tricky to regain access to TP without access your registered email address.

2) Download or print your payslips and keep them FOREVER. If you leave your school, you will lose access to the online portal of your school’s payroll provider shortly after leaving. Your payslips are a strong form of evidence if ever an issue crops up with your TP statement in the future.
3) Check your TP statement once or twice a year. Check that the salaries look right and there are no unexpected gaps in service. It is important to monitor your statement regularly as, very occasionally, mistakes can be introduced into your statement years after the event.
4) Make sure your personal details with TP are up to date.
5) Nominate the beneficiaries for your Death Grant.
